Englands Dreaming - Anarchy, Sex Pistols, Punk Rock And Beyond

It's hard to talk about the English punk scene without talking about the New York Dolls. Savage has written down the story of how the U.S. glam band played such a strong role in the formation of the Sex Pistols and other U.K. punk bands during the mid 70s. Of course this story is now part of RnR legend and has been told many times but nowhere is it as well documented or researched as here. However the level of detail in this thick book is sometimes mind numbing. Do we really have to know what type of shoes Malcom McLaren was wearing on a particular day?
There are plenty of photographs here, and several in color, but only a few of the Dolls. Johnny and the Heartbreakers are mentioned in terms of their influence on the upcoming punk bands and their part of the English Anarchy tour. This is a good book but be prepared to wade through a ton of detail.
